2012 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen Rendered

Illustration by Christian Schulte The 2011 Jetta launch is going on right now in San Francisco, and we’ll be bringing you driving impressions of the four-door shortly. Sedans are fine and everything, but it’s the five-door SportWagen that’s preferred around our offices. Here, rendered for your pleasure, is what the next Jetta SportWagen will probably look like. (It’s known as the Golf Variant in Europe, hence the Golf badge seen here.) The 2011 Jetta will launch first in S, SE, SEL, and TDI trims, with the 2.0-liter turbo GLI model following shortly thereafter. The entry-level S model will feature a new naturally aspirated 2.0-liter, mid-level models will use

the 2.5-liter inline-5, and the TDI will, of course, be powered by VW’s 2.0-liter turbo-diesel. Our guess is that the SportWagen will continue to offer just two of those engines, the 2.5-liter and the diesel. As for timing, we expect the wagon to follow within a year of the sedan as a 2012. In the meantime, the current Jetta SportWagen—which was just updated for 2010 with the latest Golf’s nose —will likely be sold alongside the new four-door Jetta. Check back soon for our first drive of the 2011 Jetta sedan. No related posts.
