Chrysler, Ford, GM, Hyundai Taking Advantage of Toyota Recall Frenzy with New Incentives

Several manufacturers are reacting to Toyota’s throttle-pedal and floor-mat recalls by offering current Toyota owners incentives to purchase vehicles. Below, a rundown of what’s being offered: Chrysler: $1000 trade-in cash for owners who trade in a Toyota Tundra, Tacoma, or Sienna for a new Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep vehicle. Those turning in a leased Toyota are also eligible. Ford: $1000 rebates to owners of Toyota, Lexus, and Scion vehicles—plus Honda and Acura, too—who trade in a model from 1995 or later, as well as those with a lease contract that expires before June 30. The offer is good through March 1 and excludes some models. Ford chose

to include Honda to persuade potential Toyota buyers from going directly to another large Japanese company. GM: $1000 toward a down payment or lease termination, or zero-percent financing for Toyota owners who trade-in for a new GM vehicle. Hyundai: $1000 for Toyota owners who trade-in their vehicle for either a Sonata, an Elantra, or an Elantra Touring.
